Image OSC Colloquium: Daniel Soh, "Squeezed Light Quantum Optical Imaging/Photon-number Resolving Single Microwave Photon Detectors" Sept. 21, 2023 Daniel Soh Associate Professor at Wyant College of Optical Sciences, the University of Arizona Prof. Soh will showcase how we can achieve super-resolution, surpassing the limitations set by Rayleigh diffraction in conventional imaging, using entangled multimode squeezed light. Compared to traditional imaging with classical light probes, quantum imaging with squeezed light markedly improves resolution. Read more

Image Alumnus Appears in Apple's New Products Release Event Sept. 19, 2023 Wyant College of Optical Sciences alumni are all working on such exciting projects and studies. One such alumnus recently appeared in an Apple Events Video discussing the release of the new iPhone 15 Pro Camera design. Misha Scepanovic (OSC, MS 2005) is now the Director of Optical Engineering at Apple and is working on exciting new research that is developing the amazing new technology in Apple's phones. Image Ashlesha Patil Honored as "Student Inventor of the Year" at Tech Launch Arizona's I-Squared Awards and Expo Event Sept. 19, 2023 Among those to be recognized at the I-Squared Awards & Expo Event is Ashlesha Patil, graduate student in the Wyant College of Optical Sciences and researcher in the NSF-ERC Center for Quantum Networks. Ashlesha was selected as Student Innovator of the Year for her work developing a computer game that teaches measurement-based quantum computation through using tangrams – puzzles where users have to fit together flat polygons. Image Largest Optical Science Library in Latin America Named after Wyant College of Optical Sciences Alumna Sept. 19, 2023 The Mexican science agency has named its largest optics library in Latin America after world-renowned Slovenian astrophysicist and engineer Marija Strojnik, alumna of Wyant College of Optical Sciences (OSC, PhD 1980). Part of the Mexican Optics Research Centre (CIO), the library, which houses the largest optics collection in Latin America, now pays tribute to Strojnik's research achievements. Read more
