Using ChatGPT for a little experimentation, Tammy Wyant, OSC Volunteer Historian, took the new technology for a spin and is now presenting the Wyant College with a selection of limericks written in 1976 for an early OSA (today, Optica) meeting versus modern ChatGPT re-writes. Congratulations to Wyant College Ph.D. student, John McCauley, who was awarded the Department of Defense National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (DoD NDSEG). John, a 2nd year Ph.D. student, is advised by Dr. Jason Jones, and the fellowship will support John as he pursues his graduate studies over the next three years. Moving forward, John will continue on his research involving ultraviolet dual-comb spectroscopy year-round with Dr. Jones.
