Recently, Ben Cromey, Wyant College of Optical Sciences alumnus (OSC BS 2015, MS 2018, and PhD 2020) and 2014 Astronaut Scholar, had the honor to narrate a special video announcement for the  George and Lisa Schott S.P.A.C.E. Endowment, a new addition to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. Earlier in June, Cromey also provided live entertainment at the reception of the Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The event honored astronauts, Marsha Ivins and David Hilmers. In August, he will also attend the special event recognizing 71 students from 48 colleges across the U.S. selected as this year's scholarship awardees.

Cromey shared on his LinkedIn about the Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony saying, "In one of the most ridiculous and wonderful surprises of my career, I got to play guitar for thirty astronauts and over 300 hundred other distinguished guests underneath a Saturn V at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex thanks to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. What a treat it was to hang out with so many other Astronaut #scholars and participate in the Astronaut Hall of Fame induction! The Astronaut Scholarship foundation really is amazing, what a wonderful blessing it is to be a part of this family for the past ten years."

Today, Cromey is a Senior Optical Engineer at BAE Systems, Space and Mission Systems (formerly Ball Aerospace), working on the Roman Space Telescope, and is also a 2023 Optica Ambassador.
