Role Summary:

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a dynamic and driven Optical Engineer to join our research and development team. This position is integral to the advancement of the next generation of Lightsense Handheld Spectrometer Products. You will collaborate with a diverse team of experts in Machine Learning, Electronics, and Mechanical Design. This role is ideal for a new graduate looking to make a significant impact in technology that contributes to public welfare.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, model, and develop optical systems for new spectrometer models.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical technologies with electronic and mechanical systems.

- Participate in prototype testing and troubleshoot optical components.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design practices and product specifications based on research findings.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

- Strong foundation in optics and photonics, preferably with specific expertise in spectroscopy.

- Demonstrated experience in designing and analyzing optical systems.

- Proficiency in non-sequential Zemax modeling and familiarity with SolidWorks is highly desirable.

- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

- Enthusiasm for innovation and a commitment to advancing technology for public good.
