XII Conference on Ultrafast Dynamics: Global Collaboration in Photonics and Non-Equilibrium Physics
From September 25-27, 2024, the Wyant College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona hosted the XII Conference on Ultrafast Dynamics & Metastability and Ultrafast Bandgap Photonics at the Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club in Tucson. Organized by Rolf Binder, Wyant College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona, and Michael Rafailov, University of Alberta, Canada, the conference brought together leading scientists and researchers from around the world to exchange ideas on ultrafast dynamics in matter, non-equilibrium phenomena in condensed-matter systems—such as transient behavior in semiconductors, magnetic materials, and superconductors—ultrafast dynamics in low-dimensional systems, metastable states of matter, and nonlinear optics. The event attracted 78 attendees from countries including the U.S., Canada, Japan, Germany, and Sweden. Participants represented a wide range of prestigious academic institutions such as MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Columbia, the University of Tokyo, and Max Planck Institute, as well as renowned research labs like Los Alamos National Lab, Sandia National Labs, and Brookhaven National Lab.
