The Wyant College of Optical Sciences is pleased to welcome seven new Industrial Affiliates Partners.

In this issue of Another Wavelength, we chat with optical sciences and engineering student Anwar Gatto. A member of the Class of 2028, Anwar is pursuing a BS in Optical Sciences and Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Materials Science. He shares her academic journey and summer experiences as a student at the Wyant College of Optical Sciences.

Sept. 30 marked the formal end of NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission. This was the United States' first ambitious attempt to collect a sample of an asteroid and return it to Earth, and it was led by the University of Arizona.

The mission, dubbed PUFFINS, will use an ultraviolet space telescope to seek answers about dust between stars.

U of A researchers Jessica Rainbow and Leslie Farland land a $2.4 million grant to study pregnant nurses and their work safety.

Congratulations to Wyant College of Optical Sciences students who have achieved excellence in their undergraduate degree programs for the previous academic year. On October 2nd, 2026 the College hosted an Honors Convocation to recognize these students during the U of A Family Weekend.

Library and information science, housed in the College of Information Science, ranked No. 4 globally and No. 3 in the United States in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

The U of A submitted a new capital improvement plan and extended the contract for for R. Ken Coit Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois at this week's Arizona Board of Regents meeting.
