International Summer School in Integrated Quantum Photonics at University of Bristol Accepting Applications March 6, 2023 The University of Bristol, UK has received funding to host the International Summer School in Integrated Quantum Photonics (ISS:IQP) which is available to PhD students based in the US, Canada and the UK and will take place between 19 – 26 July 2023. ISSIQP will present the fundamental principles of integrated photonic devices, including hands-on activities involving design, fabrication, and characterization, then showcase how such integrated photonic devices and components can be used to implement applications in quantum technologies. Image Emmett N. Leith Medal Awarded to Dr. David Brady for Invention of Sparse Holography March 6, 2023 Optica’s prestigious 2023 Emmett N. Leith Medal has been awarded to Dr. David Brady for his invention of sparse holography. In reaction to receiving the Leith Award, David said “Emmett Leith brought communication theory into optical system design. My work on compressive measurement continues the thread that he started.
