Chuan Luo Receives SPIE Scholarship
Congratulations to Chuan Luo, PhD student, for receiving a $4,000 scholarship from SPIE for 2024. This recognition, part of SPIE’s $303,000 distribution to 72 exceptional student members this year, highlights Chuan's outstanding potential in optics and photonics. Chuan Luo is a Ph.D. student in the Advanced LiDAR and Display Lab, mentored by Professor Yuzuru Takashima. Luo is dedicated to incubating innovative MEMS-based optical elements and diffractive optics for next-generation near-to-eye displays and LiDAR for sensing applications. Before joining the Wyant College of Optical Sciences, Luo worked as an Optical Engineer, focusing on the research and development of imaging and display systems. Congratulations to Chuan for this well-deserved honor and look forward to his future achievements in advancing optical sciences.
Since 1978, SPIE has awarded over $7.5 million in scholarships to empower the next generation of scientists and engineers. Brian Primeau, the 2024 SPIE Scholarship Committee chair, praised this year’s recipients for their impressive accomplishments and potential for long-term contributions to the community.
