Optical Development Intern | Zymo Research
Job Summary:
Zymo Research is seeking motivated and talented summer intern to join our bioengineering team! This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on the development of the next generation of spectrophotometers. The intern will also have the chance to participate in various bioengineering projects related to optical development, gaining hands-on experience, and contributing to real-world applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Optical Development team to design, develop, and test new spectrophotometer prototypes.
- Assist in the calibration and optimization of optical components and systems.
- Conduct experiments and gather data to support the development of optical technologies.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to improve device performance.
- Contribute to other bioengineering projects related to optical development, such as imaging systems and diagnostic devices.
- Document research findings, prepare technical reports, and present results to the team
Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Optical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of optical principles and instrumentation.
- Experience with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V) is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for data analysis and instrument control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
