Wyant College of Optical Sciences Growth in Full Gear!
With the new Grand Challenges Research Building (photos and updates) on target for occupancy in February of 2024, the Wyant College of Optical Sciences has pulled out all the stops on our faculty hiring plan, enabled by the highly successful Endowed Chair Campaign established by Founding Dean and Professor Emeritus Jim Wyant and completed last year, to support 14 additional faculty positions in the college.
The college is thrilled to have four new faculty who joined OSC this academic year, and we have ongoing searches for both a shared position with the Department of Medical Imaging and the Jack Lee Jewell Endowed Chair.
Last week the college was especially excited to post four new additional searches, one in each of our four theme areas of Optical Engineering, Optical Physics, Image Science and Photonics. Each of these searches is open to candidates at all levels, and each is authorized to make multiple hires. Highly accomplished candidates will be considered for one of the nine open Endowed Chair positions listed alphabetically below:
- Jean M. Bennett Optica Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Thomas R. Brown Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Nelson E. Claytor Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Robert M. Edmund Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- John B. Hayes Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Bahram Jalali Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Jack Lee Jewell Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- William F. and Helen M. Reynolds Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
- Robert R. Shannon Endowed Chair in Optical Sciences
With laboratory and office space for all the new faculty, staff and students, the college will enjoy a 40% expansion in the capacity and scope of its research and educational mission! If you know of individuals who may want to consider joining us in this exciting future, please encourage them to reach out to us here at the college and point them to our faculty hiring postings!
