Duties & Responsibilities

The Wyant College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona is world-renowned for the breadth and depth of its research and education programs. The college’s Image Science program is one of four major research areas with a broad scope of activity and interests, with examples including compressive and computational imaging, quantum imaging, polarization and hyperspectral imaging, lidar, remote sensing and machine learning/AI-based image formation and analysis. The program also spans novel clinical, preclinical or scientific biomedical imaging instrumentation or methods, including gamma- and x-ray imaging, multi-modal endoscope hardware, low-cost diagnostic hardware for remote healthcare, and deep-tissue imaging with structured illumination. Faculty in Image Science are enabling compelling imaging applications across campus in medicine, astronomy, remote sensing, national security, machine vision, spatial computing, and autonomous systems. The position is not limited to these areas and applicants in other fields of Image Science are encouraged to apply.

The Wyant College of Optical Sciences has been fortunate to receive philanthropic support to create 14 new Endowed Chairs in Optical Science.  While positions are open at all levels, very highly accomplished applicants will also be considered as potential recipients for the nine Endowed Chairs that are available to be awarded:
