Ben Cromey Named Optica 2023 Optics Ambassador
Every year the Optica Foundation and the previous year's Optics Ambassadors select ten new exceptional early-career members to serve as that year's class of Optics Ambassadors. This year's class includes Wyant College alumnus, Ben Cromey, now a senior optical engineer for Ball Aerospace. Ben said of the honor, "I’m really looking forward to this year and my chance to keep giving back to the optics community in my new role. I have some fun workshops for students and early career professionals in the works, and I hope I’ll get to see some OSC students/alumni at my workshops at Optica conferences this year." Congratulations, Ben on this amazing honor and opportunity!
The new class of Optics Ambassadors are selected based on demonstrated volunteerism and mentorship skills. The opportunity provides these emerging leaders to act as mentors and guides to a global network of young researchers. Michal Lipson, 2023 Optica President said, “Since 2016, our Ambassadors have provided career advice, technical knowledge, and mentorship for our student members. Our guiding principles of inclusivity, impact, and innovation are embedded in this program to reinforce our core values in the next generation of scientists, engineers, and corporate leaders.” Read the official Optica Foundation press release.
