Base Pay Range: $115,900.00 - $197,000.00 Annually

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Broadband Plasma Division (BBP) provides market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leading-edge IC manufacturing. Logic, foundry, and memory customers depend on BBP products to detect yield-critical defects for process debug and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes. BBP flagship products include the 29xx and 39xx series which leverage Broadband Plasma technology to capture a wide range of defects with ultimate sensitivity at the optical inspection speeds needed for inline defect monitoring.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for a self-motivated, creative, and results-oriented candidate to work on a next-generation optical defect inspection technology for patterned semiconductor wafers.  The successful candidate will demonstrate the technology by a test bench. The work specifically includes: 
•    Modeling, alignment characterization of an optical imaging system; 
•    Designing and performing tests; collection and analysis of data. Presenting the result to the team and management;
•    Designing and implementing HW/SW features to improve the functionality of test benches;
•    Trouble shooting hardware systems. Collaborating with other team members to solve technical problems; 
•    Contributing to system architecture decisions.

Desired qualifications:
•    PhD or Masters, in physics, applied optics, optical engineering or closely related fields.
•    Hands-on experience in high precision optical system setup, alignment, diagnosis, and data collection.
•    Experience with optical imaging system design and development is highly desirable.
•    Good understanding of optical, optomechanical and software systems and their interactions in the context of complex industrial equipment.
•    Strong diagnostic and trouble shooting skills in optics, opto-mechanics, and motion control systems.
•    Experience in complex optical system modeling and performance analysis using one or more optical modeling software such as Zemax.
•    Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Matlab or Python.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
•    Occasional travel will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
